Ben Larken has made a splash in the horror community, filling his three novels with vivid depictions of otherworldly danger and unforgettable characters. Whether it’s a Grim Reaper-like bus driver named Ramsey, a wraith made from broken shards of mirrors, or a twelve-year-old boy harboring a demon with unspeakable powers, Larken’s stories will grab you and hang on long after you’ve put down the books. They are visceral and haunting, action-packed and thrilling, and most of all human. They are also award-winning. Larken’s first novel, PIT-STOP, won the Epic Award for Best Horror in 2009. His second novel, THE HOLLOWS, has been nominated for the same award this year. And his newest release, PILLAR’S FALL, is already garnering critical buzz. Horror World says:
“The first half of Pillar’s Fall contains some brilliant moments of horror, but Larken uses these pages primarily for exposition and to set up the action sequences to follow. It is in the second half of the novel where Larken shines, when he laces up the gloves and comes out swinging, then for the reader its one continuous punch in the gut after another.”

Ben Larken wins his second award for Best Horror at EPICon 2011 with THE HOLLOWS.
[Colonial Willimasburg, VA – March 12, 2011] The Hollows by Ben Larken was announced the winner of the 2011 EPIC eBook Award™ for Best Horror. Winners were announced at EPICon’s annual awards banquet at the Williamsburg Woodlands Hotel and Suites. EPICon is the annual conference hosted by EPIC – the Electronically Published Internet Coalition™. The Hollows marks Larken’s second win at EPICon. He won the 2009 EPPIE for Pit-Stop in the same category. Reviewer Geoff Nelder says, “Having decided that Ben Larken’s Pit-Stop was my favourite noir thriller of 2009, I was delighted to be reading The Hollows. Although not a sequel as such, the main character of Pit-Stop, Scott Alders is the older brother of protagonist David Alders, who is also a lawman. Maybe it is more than a coincidence that a pit is also a hollow...If you are an aficionado of noir fiction The Hollows will immerse you in a nether world, terrifying yet scintillating at the same time(s). This Ben Larken noir mystery thriller is strongly recommended.” Formerly known as the EPPIES, EPIC’s eBook Awards™ is the longest standing and most inclusive e-book awards in existence. Since the year 2000, this peer-judged competition has been awarded by the members of EPIC to titles that represent the best in ePublishing. EPIC was established in 1998 to provide a strong voice for electronic publishing and their annual international awards competition is open to members and non-members alike. The Hollows is published by LL- Publications and is the first of a series. It is available in both print and various ebook formats and can be found at many fine retailers including Amazon.com, Amazon UK, Barnes & Noble, OmniLit.com, and direct from the publisher at www.ll-publications.com ![]() |
